Gros is a grocery shopping list app. Privacy is core to its design: Gros works entirely on your device by default and synchronises data to the cloud only if you choose to sign in.

What we collect

When you sign in (with Apple, Google, or email), Gros collects:

  • Email address — provided by Apple, Google, or you when you register with an email and password.
  • Display name — your name as supplied by Apple or Google, or the name you enter in your profile.
  • Photos — only the images you choose to attach to grocery items or your profile avatar.
  • Firebase User ID — a unique identifier issued by Google Firebase Authentication that links your account to your data.

Without a sign-in, Gros stores everything on your device and collects none of the above.

How we use it

We use the data above solely to:

  • Provide app functionality (your account, your grocery lists, your photos).
  • Synchronise your data across your own devices.
  • Share lists with family members you invite.

We do not:

  • Track you across other apps or websites.
  • Sell or rent your data.
  • Show advertising.
  • Use the data for marketing or third-party analytics.

Where it is stored

Your synchronised data is stored in Google Firebase services (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage), provisioned in the United States. Access is restricted to your account by Firebase security rules; no other user can read or modify your data.

How to delete your data

Open Settings → Delete account inside the app. This permanently deletes your Firebase Authentication account and wipes all on-device data. Cloud objects associated with your account become inaccessible (the security rules block any further access by anyone, including us).

If for any reason you cannot delete from inside the app, email us at the address below and we will delete your account on request.

Children

Gros is rated 4+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced inside the app.
